Barcelona in negotiations with Leeds United to sign Raphinha

Barcelona have opened negotiations with Leeds United for the signing of Raphinha, as per a report from Sport.

It was reported earlier Barca are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Raphinha’s situation, and they hope to take advantage of their relationship with his agent Deco, who also happens to be the Catalan club’s head scout in South America.

Barca have now reached personal terms with the Brazilian winger and tabled an offer worth €35 million to Leeds.

Although Leeds want to keep hold of Raphinha, the chances are slim due to growing interest in the Brazilian and their current position in the table.

The 25-year-old’s form has remained intact in an otherwise lacklustre campaign for Leeds, netting nine goals and three assists in the Premier League.

Elsewhere at Barca, Ousmane Dembele’s future is up in the air as his contract runs out in June.

The French winger had previously snubbed a renewal offer, but the Catalans hope he will reconsider his decision due to his resurgence under Xavi.

Adama Traore’s loan spell also ends this summer, and the Blaugrana haven’t decided over the Wolverhampton Wanderers star’s future.

Xavi sees Raphinha as a perfect addition to bolster the attacking ranks. The Brazilian is known for his pace, dribbling and playmaking skills. He could elevate his game to different heights under Xavi.

The Catalan giants are also determined to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland, but Manchester City and Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race.
