Manchester United currently monitoring Thomas Tuchel’s situation at Chelsea

Amidst the current uncertainty at Chelsea, Manchester United are looking to acquire the services of Thomas Tuchel.

According to The Guardian, United are keeping an eye on the state of things at Stamford Bridge with a move for the Chelsea boss in view.

Per the report, Tuchel joins a host of names shortlisted for the United job with Ralf Rangnick set to vacate his position as manager at the end of the current campaign.

Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino have also been earmarked as possible candidates for the hot seat alongside Julien Lopetegui and Luis Enrique (see our analysis about Erik ten Hag’s and Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical styles).

Last night’s defeat to Atletico Madrid all but confirms a fifth consecutive trophy-less season for the Red Devils, so it is no surprise to see them linked with a move for Tuchel.

The 48-year-old has impressed since taking over from Frank Lampard in January 2021. He has since led the Blues to a Champions League title, UEFA Super Cup and, most recently, the FIFA Club World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea are undergoing a tough period at the moment due to the sanctions that have been imposed by the UK government but with a club sale pending, the mood in West London could get a whole lot better in the coming weeks.

The German tactician has confirmed that he wants to remain in charge regardless of who the new owners are, providing a much-needed boost for the Chelsea faithful in these trying times.

All in all, a move away to Old Trafford looks very unlikely this summer and United may have to look elsewhere in their hunt for a new gaffer.
