Tottenham Hotspur submit offer for Barcelona star Memphis Depay

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Barcelona star Memphis Depay, and they have submitted an offer ahead of a potential move this summer, reports Spanish journalist Gerard Romero (h/t Barca Universal).

Depay made his switch to Camp Nou on a free transfer last summer. He has netted ten goals and two assists in 19 La Liga games this season.

However, speculations have arisen over his future following his lack of minutes since his return from injury.

Furthermore, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s dream start to his Barcelona spell – netting six goals in six games – has led manager Xavi to overlook Depay.

It has been previously reported that the Netherlands international is on the radar of Serie A giants Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Antonio Conte’s Spurs have also joined the race for the former Lyon star, whose contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the next season.

The North Londoners are planning alternatives for Harry Kane, whose future looks far from certain.

Manchester City’s efforts to sign the English striker went in vain last summer, but they are reportedly still keeping tabs on his situation.

Conte expects Spurs’ board to be ambitious in the summer transfer window in order to challenge for the trophies next season.

The Italian manager was also disappointed with the transfer fallouts of Luis Diaz and Adama Traore, with the latter joining Barca on loan.

Depay was signed at the behest of Ronald Koeman, and the Dutch forward was considered the next pivotal figure following the departure of Lionel Messi.

However, Koeman’s sacking midway through the season has changed the fortunes of Depay, who started the last three games on the bench in La Liga.

The 28-year-old’s role could further be reduced should the Catalan giants manage to sign their top target Erling Braut Haaland this summer.

Despite getting only limited chances in the last few outings, Depay proved his worth by scoring against Athletic Club and Elche.
