The 2021 Serie A action closes out on Wednesday with a set of exciting match-ups, absolutely worth a live-streaming subscription for dedicated football fans.
Let’s take a look at the top-three Serie A predictions for today.
Empoli vs Milan – Both teams to score
Each of Empoli’s last three Serie A matches at the Stadio Carlo Castellani has seen over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring, with all three featuring precisely three second-half goals.
Interestingly, before a 1-1 draw in their most recent league encounter versus the Rossoneri in Tuscany, four consecutive top-flight H2Hs here had witnessed both sides on the scoresheet in matches garnering 4+ goals.
Each of Milan’s six Serie A travels between September and December had contained 3+ overall goals before a 1-1 draw at Udinese last time out.
Barring a brace of ‘wins to nil’ at Luigi Ferraris against Sampdoria and Genoa, Stefano Pioli’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet at any other Serie A venue this season.
Empoli deserve the benefit of the doubt here, as the seven-time European champions look shaky at the back following an airtight start to the season.
Hellas Verona vs Fiorentina – Over 2.5 goals
Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi has been a venue of entertainment this season, as all but one of Hellas Verona’s nine Serie A fixtures here have produced 3+ match goals.
Only against relegation-battling Cagliari have the Gialloblu failed to get on the scoresheet in front of attending home fans in the past nine months while they’ve only kept a clean sheet twice in that period.
Additionally, their most recent top-flight meeting with Fiorentina yielded a 2-1 defeat at this stadium back in April.
Meanwhile, La Viola came from a 2-0 down to hold Sassuolo to a 2-2 home draw at the weekend, which means that five of their last seven competitive outings have contained at least four goals.
With in-form striker Dusan Vlahovic (top scorer in Serie A this season) on the cusp of making history in Italy’s top-flight, it’s hard to make a case for Fiorentina not to find the net at least once.
The Serbia international has tied Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time Serie A record for the goals scored across a single calendar year (33).
He is now one goal away from setting a benchmark in the competition.
Inter Milan vs Torino – Nerazzurri to score over 1.5 goals
Inter Milan head into proceedings in the midst of a purple patch, having won their last five Serie A matches by 2+ goals ‘to nil’ to regain control at the top of the Serie A table.
The free-scoring Italian champions have netted a staggering 103 Serie A goals in 2021 so far en route to becoming the first team in Italy’s top-flight to have smashed a 100-goal barrier in a single calendar year since AC Milan in 1948.
Under the stewardship of new manager Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri have bagged 48 Serie A goals this season, at least ten more than any other side in the competition.
Except for a 1-1 home draw with fierce rivals Juventus in October, Inter have scored over 1.5 goals in each of their remaining seven home league games this season.
By contrast, Torino have conceded at least once in their last seven away matches across all competitions since beating Sassuolo 1-0 in mid-September.
That remains their only shut-out on hostile turf this entire season, highlighting the potential for another leaky evening.
