Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres has told Pep Guardiola that he would like to join Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window, Mundo Deportivo reports.
The Spain international joined the Cityzens from Valencia for just €25 million last year, and he has proved a top signing with 20 goal contributions in 43 appearances.
He is currently out until the beginning of 2022 after suffering a metatarsal fracture on international duty but still appears keen on a mid-season move to the Catalan giants.
Torres has already informed Guardiola of his desire to leave for Camp Nou. The 50-year-old is willing to let him go if the right economic agreement is reached.
The 21-year-old has produced several stand-out displays for the Mancunian giants, particularly excelling in the false nine role.
However, his playing time has been limited with the fierce competition. Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have all played up front.
It appears unlikely to change in the near future, and Torres may feel that he has an ideal opportunity to establish himself with the Blaugrana under Xavi.
With Sergio Aguero out with a medical concern, the club are actively pursuing a striker. Torres could seamlessly fit in as he is used to the tiki-taka style of play.
The one major concern for the Blaugrana could be the transfer fee. He is valued at €50m by Transfermarkt, and they are unlikely to afford the price this winter.
The club still need to reduce an excess wage bill of more than €300m which is likely to be accompanied by the departure of several more experienced players.
A loan deal could be the best solution for the Blaugrana in January, with an option to buy next summer.
